Our topic today is vaginal health.

Last week we talked about the common infections those of us with a vulva/vagina are susceptible to. This week we are talking about the best ways to care and show your love for your vagina and all the miracles it provides.

  1. Gut Health

Yes, you heard me right.

Gut health is important to the ENTIRE mind, body and soul…and vagina. The yeast and bacteria that grows in your gut can be shared with your vagina.

Here’s how to keep your gut (and your vagina) feeling healthy:

  • Reduce sugars and inflammatory foods (dairy, gluten)
  • Good oral hygiene
  • Talk to your health care professional about the right probiotic for you
  1. Move

We sit in our cars, in our offices, in front of Netflix.

All that sitting is not good for you pelvic health.

Movement means nutrients are sent throughout the body – yes, even to your pelvis. So get up, get that blood flowing and protect your vaginal health.

  1. Balanced Hormones

Hormone imbalance affects everything in your body. PMS, mood swings, anxiety, acne, libido. An imbalance of estrogen, progesterone, insulin, testosterone could be the underlying cause of your vaginal issues.

  1. Get Tested.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again. The only way to know if you are healthy and clear of infections is to get tested regularly.

Yes, even if you are in a monogamous relationship!

Why? Because these infections are sneaky and can go without symptoms for years but still have negative effects on other systems, such as fertility.

End the stigma. Get tested. Get treated.
